River Plate was crowned champion of the Metropolitan Regional Phase of the Federal 3x3 League after defeating Tres de Febrero 16-13 in the final played on Thursday, July 9. With this result, the Millonario secured its qualification for the Final Phase of the tournament, alongside C.A.S.A. of Padua, Los Indios de Moreno, and the host team.
The team led by Esteban "Pepe" Anfoso delivered an outstanding performance by winning the title undefeated. River faced the entire competition with only three players: Matías Berenbroek, Pedro Guzmán, and Lucas Hamlin, due to the absence due to injury of Agustín Camina and Facundo Zanada, and the withdrawal of Matías Lusín for personal reasons.
The path to the championship began with two victories in the group stage: 21-6 against Club Morón and 21-19 against Tres de Febrero, which came as the only undefeated team in the region. In the quarterfinals, the Millonario overcame Pinocho 20-16, while in the semifinals they convincingly defeated C.A.S.A. of Padua 19-10.
The final again pitted the Millonario against Tres de Febrero in a very contested match. River prevailed 16-13 and lifted the regional trophy, crowning a perfect campaign.
With this triumph, the River Plate team continues in the race for the national title of the Federal 3x3 League, whose champion will also earn qualification to the Junior League of the Americas, to be held in October in El Salvador.
