Governance

Being part of River means defending and symbolising its values. Being River is living and playing with greatness.

River Governance

River Plate runs an institutional integrity programme aimed at strengthening transparency, ethics and good governance across all areas of the Club. Through policies, protocols and strategic partnerships, we seek to build an organisational culture based on strong values, regulatory compliance and a commitment to the rights of the entire River community.

Topics we address

1. Code of Ethics and Conduct

The Club has a Code of Ethics and Conduct that sets out the values and standards expected of directors, employees, athletes and suppliers. It includes zero tolerance for bribery, fraud and match-fixing, and is aligned with the standards of FIFA, CONMEBOL and AFA.

2. Ethics Line

We have a secure and confidential channel for queries and reports of ethical breaches. The Ethics Line protects good-faith whistleblowers and guarantees that each case is handled with independence and transparency.

3. Child protection

The Club is progressively strengthening the protection of children and adolescents across all its areas, incorporating guidelines and tools to guide the conduct of staff and institutional representatives in sensitive situations.

4. Strategic partnerships

We actively promote coexistence in diversity and work to address issues such as racism, xenophobia, antisemitism and terrorism through agreements and programmes with specialised institutions.

5. Prevention of Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing (ML/TF)

River has an ML/TF Prevention Manual as a financial compliance framework, in compliance with UIF regulations and applicable international standards. It also has a protocol for identifying and reporting suspicious transactions. The 2023 statutory reform incorporated additional financial controls: joint signing of contracts, a cap of 50% of the budget for professional football and assembly approval for long-term sponsorships.

6. Gender and Diversity

The Club has a Gender-Based Violence Protocol available to female members and employees, has been a signatory of the Women's Empowerment Principles (UN Women / Global Compact) since 2021, and adheres to the workplace harassment prevention programme under ILO Convention 190.
