Today, the Club bid farewell to a goalkeeper as decisive as few in history, marking the end of a cycle characterized by titles, hierarchy, an absolute dedication to our colors, and a profound sense of belonging.
He arrived at the beginning of 2018 and quickly became a prominent figure. Weeks after his debut, he experienced the first of several unforgettable nights: the Argentine Super Cup, only the second match with a title at stake against our classic rival in the entire history. It was his first victory against them in a final and the first of his ten titles. That same year, forever marked in football, he stood out throughout the 2018 Libertadores and was a protagonist of the most glorious night: Eternal Glory in Madrid.
Captain for several seasons, Franco's decisive saves and performances in iconic matches will remain in the memory of all the fans, along with a fact that represents his winning spirit: he has a positive record against each of the big teams.
His name also holds a privileged place among the legends, with a record as important as his legacy: he reached 164 clean sheets, a mark in River's history only surpassed by Amadeo Carrizo.
In addition to all that, there's an achievement that elevates him even more: he was a world champion with Argentina in Qatar 2022, keeping River's tradition of contributing world champions to the national team alive.
Franco leaves River as an icon, a multiple champion, and an indelible part of our history.
Thank you for everything, Franco. Your home will always be River.
